Aspiritech’s donors allow our nonprofit to provide the essential support and programs that make us a leading provider of meaningful employment for autistic adults. If you can, please support our mission today.
Join us for a family-friendly event celebrating community, inclusivity, and all things Aspiritech!
Our Aspiritech Inclusive Magic & Music Extravaganza is happening at Winnetka’s Community House on Sunday, June 9, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. With live music provided by The Awfully Good, additional entertainment by magician John Measner, and delicious snacks and drinks included in the ticket price to boot, we’re certain an excellent time will be had by all. Doors open at 2:00 PM on Sunday. We hope to see you there!
Your ticket purchase directly benefits Aspiritech, an Evanston-based nonprofit that has made its mission to provide meaningful employment in tech to adults on the autism spectrum since 2008. Proceeds from this event support community outings and gatherings through our Stepping Up & Out (SUO) program, emergency financial aid grants through our ACE (Assist, Change, & Empower) Fund, career training through Aspiritech Academy, plus the dedicated Employee Support Staff and neurodiversity-friendly accommodations that help make Aspiritech one of the best autism-friendly employers in the United States.
The Awfully Good started with a simple idea: take slow, sappy, and soft rock covers (and some downright awful tunes) and give them a kick in the pants with an upbeat rock edge to make them good! The Awfully Good doesn’t hold back—no genre or decade is sacred.
The female fronted band reimagines songs from The Beatles to Lady Gaga, and Bryan Adams to Bruno Mars. Their unique sound gives new life to these sleepy covers, with a high-energy hard rock tone complemented by melodic vocals. Always recognizable—never duplicated. And absolutely no backing tracks. That’s what the Awfully Good calls ballistic ballads.
John Measner is a classically trained magician and skilled manipulator with many mystifying illusions. He is a graduate of the Chavez Studio of Magic and a member of several prestigious magic organizations. John has performed on Chicago’s own “Bozo Show,” cable TV talk shows, and dazzled audiences at popular festivals. He will thrill you with everything—from card-and-coin magic to illusions such as Houdini’s famous Metamorphosis. From close-up magic to a classic illusion show, John has the tricks that all will enjoy.
“We hired them for the mission. We’ve kept them because they are excellent.”
